European Green Cities is working with Hvidovre Municipality in the city of Copenhagen to create Smart City solutions.
This work is part of POCITYF, an EU-funded Smart City project aiming to help historic cities across EU become greener, smarter, and more liveable, while respecting their cultural heritage.
There are two "lighthouse cities" in the project, Evora in Portugal and Alkmaar in the Netherlands, and six partner cities, of which Hvidovre is the Danish partner.
Avedøre has been designated as a Positive Energy District. This means working to make Avedøre in Hvidovre a smart city with the technologies defined in POCITYF. We call it Avedøre Green City.
The cities are working on solutions within four "Energy Transition Tracks":
1. Innovative solutions for positive buildings and neighbourhoods
2. Peer-to-peer energy management and storage solutions for grid flexibility
3. Integration of e-mobility in smart grid and urban planning
4. Citizen-driven innovation in co-creation of smart city solutions
By implementing and testing the four "Energy Transition Tracks" in cities, POCITYF will support Europe in the race to become the first CO2 neutral continent by 2050.
POCITYF is supported by the EU's Horizon 2020 programme. Read more on the project website
